Altruistic Measures: Fashion Delivers

Upon perusing different charity sites, I stumbled upon this little gem: Fashion Delivers. I think they are definitely worth giving a look-see for your altruistic needs!

This charity seeks to help those in need. This ranges from veterans, victims of domestic violence, the impoverished, those re-entering the workforce, and those who are ill. They also help in disaster relief areas.

Here’s their blurb:

“Our Impact: Fashion Delivers battles the effects of poverty and natural disaster by supporting hundreds of community-based social service agencies throughout the U.S.  and around the world. We have distributed over $100 million of men’s and women’s clothing and home furnishings since we were founded in 2005, providing a vital service to our agency partners and the people they support.”

What they do:

“Fashion Delivers works with the adult apparel and home fashions industries collecting donations of new product to help individuals and families in need. We provide these donations to a network of hundreds of local nonprofit agencies that distribute items quickly and directly to those who need them most.

What began as an initial disaster relief effort by the fashion industry has turned into an incredible charitable endeavor to provide hope to those in need. On September 15, 2005, thirty fashion industry leaders came together to help the victims of Hurricanes Katrina and Rita; over $4.5 million worth of product was collected and channeled directly to survivors suffering from the devastation. Fashion Delivers has distributed over $100 million worth of product since 2005. We bring hope and “heart” to those in need.”

I attempted to embed the video, but after much gnashing of the teeth and cursing at wordpress, a basic link won. Apologies!
